Sir Killalot Vs Robo Babe – ‘Robot Wars (Android Love) [Jewels & Stone Mix]’ (2000)

“Roboteers, stand by. Three. Two. One. Activate!” – Can you believe there was a ‘Robot Wars’ single? Released in 2000, ‘Robot Wars (Android Love)’ was a Eurodance track based on music from the ‘Robot Wars’ TV combat game show, originally broadcast by the BBC between 1998-2003. The track was written by producers John Waddell and William Parnell, and issued on the Polydor label in the run up to Christmas. Peaking at #51, it spent four weeks on the UK chart, dashing any hopes of an outsider Christmas #1! I’ve not worked out who Robo Babe was (I imagine the vocalist and the model on the front cover are not the same person!), but Sir Killalot was one of the regular house robots from Series 2 onward, joining the show the same year that Craig Charles replaced Jeremy Clarkson as the show’s host.
