Pleasure Deluxe – ’99 Red Balloons [Balearico Airplay Edit]’ (1996)
Nena’s ’99 Red Balloons’ gets a Eurodance makeover here, courtesy of Pleasure Deluxe. It’s doubtful the two young ladies on the cover are anything other than models, but perhaps I’m being too cynical? A raft of bangin’ remixes appear across the 2xCD format, including contributions from Johan Gielen, Oliver Adams, Ray ‘Mad Man’ Hedges and Brian ‘Higgo’ Higgins (Xenomania). This is the alternative radio edit, from CD2, which is named after one of Higgins’ aliases, 1994’s Balearico, but the liner notes state it’s not one of his mixes. Incorrect or is the name just a coincidence? On the Eternal label, the dance subsidiary of Warner Music UK, which was also home to Gina G, Dannii Minogue and Corona.
