Phillip Fraser – Come Away + Dub
Taken from the Freedom Sounds 7″
Produced by Bertram Brown
Mixed by King Tubby
Phillip Fraser was born into a catholic family in Kingston Jamaica on February 12, 1951. Sometime during his late teens Phillip felt the inspiration of Rastafari and decided that the teachings were in line with his own inner feelings and so he joined the Rastafarian community.
Inspired by the likes of Slim Smith, he began singing in contests in the Maxfield Avenue area with other up and comers like the Mighty Diamonds. As his popularity grew he joined forces with Bertram Brown at his Freedom Sounds label….
“Phillip’s small frame and gentle manner belie the power of his voice, as you listen to him you can hear and feel the inspiration that guides him.”
