Tosca, Austrian maestros of the mix , pay homage to their Jamaican forebears in CHOCOLATE ELVIS DUBS; an album containing instrumental dub versions of the single “Chocolate Elvis.” Featuring the production talents of likeminded downtempo merchants like Rocker’s Hi-Fi and Bullitnuts, the album is a unique excursion into the possibilities of the remix. Using a limited palette of vocal samples and drum breaks, each track is restructured through the creative use of sampling and other production trickery. On Baby Mammoth’s “Graceland Dub,” the word “shake,” stutters into rhythmic fits of apoplexy–a weird cyborgized visage of “The King” himself.
